After commencing their PSL Promotion/Relegation Playoffs with victories, Milford and Magesi will do battle for top spot at the Richards Bay Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Kick-off is at 2:00pm (CAT, GMT+2).
CURRENT FORM
As it stands, Magesi occupy first place on the Playoff table following a 2-0 win over Cape Town City at the Seshego Stadium last Saturday.
Sitting in second position, albeit by a marginal goal difference tally, Milford recorded a crucial 1-0 victory against Cape Town City in their initial fixture at the Athlone Stadium on Tuesday, 26 May.
While Magesi and Milford aim for pole position, City are in real danger of missing out on a return to the Betway Premiership after two matches played, while a -3 goal difference plays heavily in their opponents' favour.
The Citizens will face Milford away this Saturday and will need a victory to stay in the race for a potential top-flight return.
WHAT WAS SAID
Speaking ahead of the game against Milford, Magesi coach Allan Freese expressed that he is happy with his side’s showing in the playoffs and that their sole mandate is to acquire as many points as possible with the hope of staying in the Betway Premiership for next season.
“First and foremost, happy about the result. Happy about the two goals, happy about the performance the boys put up today. I’m quite happy about how we played,” Freese said.
“It should give us confidence going into the next game. The two goals may go a long way in this tournament. I’ll have to look at how they play before we plan anything. We will also plan to go there and do well.
“Playing in this mini tournament, the expectation is that we win at home and try to get as many points as we can. I’m very happy about this result, but now we have to go and prepare for the next match against Milford."
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Milford: Siposethu Ndlabi -Ndlabi was one of Milford’s star performers against City in their initial Playoff fixture, while his goal separated the two sides at the Athlone Stadium last week. Full of confidence, Ndlabi will be eager to get his name on the scoresheet once more as Milford apply pressure at the top of the table.
Magesi: Mcedi Vandala – Much like that of Ndlabi, Vandala likewise scored against City in Magesi’s fixture against City last weekend. The experienced midfielder will be tasked to lead his side in the creative hub on the pitch as he enters the next tie with a spring in his step.
