Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane says Mamelodi Sundowns winger Siyanda Ndlovu has earned his first call-up to the squad after he named on Thursday in the selection for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Kenya.
“If you look at his last four games, he came out with two man-of-the match awards, scoring, assists and made some very deliberate plays ... a little bit of a duplicate of Thapelo Maseko,” Mosimane said at a press conference.
“And I like those wingers, you know? Go inside, one versus one, get behind the defenders and go past, bring the ball in the box. Those are my kind of wingers.
“He's that kind of player who has intensity, but we still have to check him in the national team, because national team is not the same level as club level. How is he? Can he fit in? We need to create a big pool of players.”
Mosimane said a lack of time with players meant he needsedto include promising players into the squad at every available opportunity.
“We don't have time, how am I going see those boys, these players who are doing well? I need to bring them inside the camp, train with them, and see them. When we bring them, it doesn't mean we want to play them.
“We want to see if they can fit in the setup, come and learn how we do things here, because we do things totally differently from your club.”
The 23-year-old Ndlovu, who previously use the surname Mthanti, spent three seasons at Lamontville Golden Arrows before signing for Sundowns ahead of this campaign.
