Real Madrid defender Ferland Mendy underwent surgery for a recurring right thigh injury on Monday, AFP learned from a medical source.
The operation, which was carried out in Lyon, went well, the source said, with the player expected to return within three to four months.
There had been fears the 30-year-old Frenchman could be out for a year with the career-threatening issue which flared up again during a Spanish league match on May 3.
This was the fifth injury this season for the former Le Havre and Lyon player, who came through the Paris Saint-Germain youth system from 2004- to 2012.
Mendy earned 10 caps for France between 2018 and 2024.
