A Quinton de Kock century wasn’t enough for Mumbai Indians on Thursday night, as Punjab Kings cruised to a seven-wicket victory in the Indian Premier League at the Wankhede Stadium.
Prabhsimran Singh led a chase of 196 with an unbeaten 80 off 39 balls, alongside outstanding support from his captain Shreyas Iyer (66 off 35), as the Kings made it four wins from five in this season’s IPL.
The winning momentum refuses to stop 🌪️

De Kock had earlier given MI fans a taste of what they’ve been missing, on what at times was a one-man mission to propel the underperforming hosts to 195-6 after being asked to bat first.
In for Rohit Sharma, who hadn’t recovered from a hamstring tweak, the 33-year-old waltzed to his third IPL ton in his first appearance of the season, eclipsing the absent Indian hero with an unbeaten 112 off 60 balls.
The Kings started like a train in reply but lost Priyansh Arya when he picked out Deepak Chahar at midwicket.
It was impact replacement AM Ghazanfar who took the wicket and he claimed his second when he had Cooper Connolly caught behind by De Kock.
Prabhsimran was dropped on 11 by Jasprit Bumrah and set about making the home side pay, going to a second successive IPL half century in just 23 deliveries.
Bumrah kept smiling as he returned for a second spell but he couldn’t make the breakthrough, as Prabhsimran and Shreyas took their partnership beyond 100 in the 13th over.
Captain Hardik Pandya came in for even worse treatment, shipping 15 from his third over as the finish line roared into sight for the Kings.
Shreyas fell to a smart Naman Dhir diving catch late on, but MI are languishing after a fourth straight defeat.
FINE CATCH!! 👏

DE KOCK FIRES
Earlier, De Kock cracked seven sixes and eight fours, reaching three figures with an outrageous ramped glide through the slips.
What a player, what a knock, and what a way to start the season! 💯

Only Naman provided any support, with his 31-ball 50 in a third wicket partnership of 122.
They had been in strife at 12-2 when the impressive Arshdeep Singh (3-22) claimed two wickets in two balls.
First De Kock’s frustrated countryman Ryan Rickleton was caught in the deep before Suryakumar Yadav toe-ended his first ball to Vuzvendra Chahal.
It then took an incredible Shreyas dive and one-handed throw back from above the boundary sponge and into the hands of Xavier Bartlett to dismiss Pandya cheaply, as MI’s innings fizzled out.
SHREYAS IYER, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!! 🤯

🎥 One of the best catches you would see in the #TATAIPL history 🔥🔥
