Cal Crutchlow admits he is in dire need of a teammate at LCR Honda in order to take the pressure off his shoulders.

The Brit has been a part of the Lucio Cecchinello team since its inception and only had a teammate for the 2015 season before dropping back to one rider last year.

"I want a teammate next year," the 31-year-old told motorsport.com.

"I'm sick of being the only rider. It takes the emphasis of the whole weekend for me. I'd rather them look after and concentrate on someone else. I know that sounds stupid, but in the end, the whole thing is on you.

"The guys in the garage are standing for one rider when it's better to stand in there for two. It's more stress to prepare, to create, but I think it’s better."

Japanese Moto 2 rider Takaaki Nakagami is believed to be in pole position to be promoted to the LCR Honda team in 2018.
