Zesco United moved up to second on the MTN Faz Super League standings and closed the gap to two points on leaders Napsa Stars after they won 1-0 away to Lumwana Radiants in a rescheduled week 9 fixture played at the Lumwana Ground on Wednesday.

Second-half substitute Maybin Kalengo scored the lone goal in the 90th minute to open his account in the MTN FAZ Super League.

The 18-year old, who is a product of the 2014 Airtel Rising Stars program, came off the bench to replace Ugandan striker Davis Kasirye, who made his debut a day after he was unveiled to the media in Ndola.

His goal helped the 2015 league champions move to 35 points from seventeen matches, having played three matches fewer than leaders Napsa Stars, who host Power Dynamos on Monday.

Meanwhile, Green Buffaloes missed a chance to close the gap at the top to a single point after they gave away a halftime lead to lose 2-1 at home to Buildcon in their rescheduled week 10 match at the Edwin Imboela Stadium.

Friday Samu had given the hosts the lead on the half hour mark but the visitors responded with goals from Fidele Bosandja and John Makwatta in the 47th and 74th minutes to collect maximum points on the road for the first time since winning promotion.

The victory helped Buildcon move up to ninth with 29 points from 20 matches, while Green Buffaloes dropped to fourth on 33 points, having played the same number of games.

Champions Zanaco recovered from last weekend's disappointing goalless draw at Red Arrows by defeating City of Lusaka 3-1 at the Woodlands Stadium.

They strolled to a 2-0 halftime lead thanks to goals by Ernest Mbewe and George Chilufya before Enock Jere reduced the deficit in the 66th minute, giving hope to the hosts for a possible comeback.

However, there was no coming back for Hector Chilombo's men as Augustine Mulenga made sure of the points for the visitors with a goal six minutes from time.

The victory took Zanaco to seventh with 30 points while City of Lusaka stayed rooted in 19th opposition with 11 points after failing to collect maximum points in 16 consecutive matches.
