Zesco United attacking midfielder John Ching’andu has been sidelined with illness and is a doubt for this weekend’s week three home fixture with Nchanga Rangers.

Ching’andu, who was initially listed as a substitute, missed the rescheduled week one fixture against Konkola Blades on Wednesday after he fell ill while in camp and his place on the bench went to defender Bernard Mapili.

Coach Zlatko Krmpotic told supersport.com that Ching’andu’s illness was sudden and that he was still awaiting a prognosis from the team doctor.

“Ching’andu’s illness can only be explained by the doctor not me. We also have Kondwani who has flu. What I can say however is that these two players will not be available on Saturday to play against Nchanga Rangers. Maybe they will play against Nkana,” said Krmpotic.

The Serbian also mentioned that Jackson Mwanza, who picked up an ankle injury in the Samuel Zoom Ndhlovu Charity 4-2 win over Power Dynamos, would be out for the foreseeable future.

“Jackson is very far from returning. He has not even started training. He needs good training of at least two to three weeks to come back.”

Meanwhile Mischeck Chaila and Simon Silwimba have returned from injury and were part of the team which faced Konkola Blades. Chaila went straight into the starting eleven while Silwimba was an unused substitute.
